Garrett County Youth Success through Summer Work Program

Bryson Brill entered the Summer Youth Program through the Western Maryland Consortium in June of 2020 as a recent high school graduate with limited employability skills. He had worked a part time job with no room for growth and he realized he wanted more for his life. With a strong interest in the automotive industry, Bryson’s career counselor through the Consortium was able to secure a paid work experience for him as an Auto Detailer at the Patriot Automotive Group located at 2499 Maryland Highway in Oakland.

The staff at the Patriot Automotive dealership has been a valuable workforce partner to the Western Maryland Consortium over the past several years.  They are always willing to offer eligible Garrett County youth that are interested in the automotive industry a chance to learn new skills and offer training opportunities and job readiness skills by providing them with real hands-on work experience.

Bryson’s worksite supervisor, Brandi Sines, who is the Service Manager at the dealership reported that Bryson did a wonderful job from his very first week on the job and kept up his exemplary performance throughout the duration of his time in the program. He was even promoted to higher level position in the dealership’s body shop. Again, Bryson excelled with every task assigned to him, and at the completion of the Summer program he was hired on as a permanent member of the Patriot team. His new employer states that he did an excellent job throughout and they are so happy to have him! Bryson loves his new job and expresses his appreciation to the Western Maryland Consortium for assisting him with the support to achieve his career goals.
